I am a biased opinion so I will leave the extent of my review to the fact that I love to read any ND book to my toddler and my toddler seems to be engaged when I read ND books to her. So that is a 5-star rating in my book.

Not sure how they could have missed the fact that Colorado has one of the only diamond producing areas in North America - on the Colorado-Wyoming border North West of Fort Collins. Makes you wonder how many other things they didn't include. Certainly not comprehensive.

A nice guide to identify local gems and minerals. There's a lot of general information not specific to Colorado, but useful none the less. Many photos that lack necessary color and definition, as if they were photos digitized at the advent of photo scanning technology, otherwise accurate, and well organized.

This book is awesome! It's lamenated and pocket-size-ish, and has maps of the local where the specimens are located, and big pictures of each rock type. It's exactly what you want for identifying rocks found in Colorado. Love it!!

Nice little book with decent pictures. If only my eyes were younger and stronger. Being a field guide, the book is small, with small pics and text on example pages. If the pics and small text were of a little better clarity (for older eyes), then 5 stars.

Very informative guide for the CO rock hound! It's a great field guide on what to look for in stones, minerals and gems in the CO region--I haven't had a chance to actually use it yet, but have read it and it seems to contain great knowledge by the writer on what to look for when prospecting.

This guide is great for kids and adults. Love the section that helps you identify any rock you find by color and characteristics. We are in the process of finding as many of the Colorado rocks as possible.

OOP, patterns, XP, TDD, CI/CD, BigData, DevOps - this is just to name few. This book is originated from golden age of OOP. The author admits that object oriented paradigm is not the only one available but the bias toward OOP/OOD is obvious (and justifiable). This book tells about how to do the modeling of core software components “the right way”.With fast pace of modern software development, it’s easy to forget that the main part of software value is in its “brains”. You can change GUI technology or infrastructure layer. You even can totally rewrite your application but the application domain stays more or less the same and at the end of the day the model defines whether this software is useful or not.I can say that this book is targeting architects, domain experts, business analysts (and I believe these professionals are the main audience) but this would be the usual fallacy of separating software developers into first and second class. So I say the opposite – if you want to transcend from craft of software development to its art you should read this book.

This book helped me think about program design in a completely new way. "Domain Driven Design" is about creating programs based on good models, which in turn are based on subject knowledge (a domain). Before any coding gets done, there is a lot of design work! This book talks about the work and how to do it. I feel a lot more confident about programming now.

DDD provides one of the best practices for object design and insights for service-oriented design.

The book explains concepts and patterns very well. Each definition comes along with a good example to make the whole idea clearer. Each pattern can solve only a class of problems and Eric Evans highlights when and why to apply a specific pattern, also provides scenarios to combing patterns for a more expressive system.Principles that must be present in a software project are highlighted (such as communication through a language used by all team members, a language that is built from discussions with domain experts). Importance of software design and how it favors problem solving and clear communication between team members and teams.For a while I was looking at refactoring as a "thing to do when the software is done if time allows it", Eric Evans highlights refactoring as a necessity and must not be neglected because continuous refactoring leads to deeper knowledge and understanding of what the Software needs to do and how it actually does it.Practical problems such as the possibility of multiple models to exist within the same system have been addressed and given solutions from using one common (unified) model in the whole system (also the costs of such a choice are presented) to totally independent models. An algorithm described in steps is presented for getting two totally independent models to be completely unified allows designers and developers to combine any part of their software towards new features required by the business.Also a common problem at this time is integration with legacy systems (there are lots of systems that were written using old, now unreliable, components that need migration towards newer, safer, faster components), this problem is approached and it's solution is detailed from beginning to end where the system is completely migrated.Last but not least, a small oriented graph is given to visualize how concepts in the book are connected and how all pieces fall into the puzzle. Any software developer should read this book at least one time.

The book is to be read more than once. After first time I managed to understand basic of domain modeling. When I get better, I’ll read it again for further knowledge.

This book gets longwinded and could have shed about 250 pages on the backend. However, I would recommend the first 200+ pages to every OO developer who is laboring with domain experts, stakeholders and users to match their requirements up with an object model. Like most development books I can't recommend everything the author writes, but that said I think this book's main message is very solid and offers plenty of good ideas to the OO developer writing common business applications.

This book is great for people who want a comprehensive overview to domain driven design. It has a lot of examples to help illustrate points

The reference on domain-driven design. A good book, but at times difficult to read and really get involved in. Takes a very high-level approach to design and doesn't discuss some implementation details of going down the domain model path. It took me some time to get through this book.

Love the movie. always kept an eye out for this title.that said, bright eyed anticipation, cause the cover and preview looked promising. After the first few pages, they promptly rolled back ... from boredom.art's average ... at times making the Goblin King look like one of the evil, ugly step sisters .... in drag. while the story is flatlined...with His father coming across as a dandy noble ... with mental issue and mother being another Sarah (I didn't like her as she comes across bland)I wouldn't get it if my local library had a copy for me to preview. While I'd like to know what happens in the nxt issue, I'm afraid of being disappointed again.

This is a perfect story for someone that needs more Labyrinth in their life. Jareth’s character gets more fleshed out for those interested in the mysterious king. A must have for any Labyrinth lover. Can’t wait for the second volume to be released.

I am responsible for my own thoughts, emotions and actions. No one can force me to do anything unless I choose to .3. People’s perspectives are based on their own experiences. I don’t have to react to them since they are not mine.4. It’s possible to be authentic with yourself and others.

I should start off by stating my background. I am an undergrad student of philosophy and linguistics, a branch of the humanities. I also deeply love this series of books because of its obviousness and simplicity. It has personally helped me triumph over many, many challenges. This is why I decided to write a review here.There is a huge tradition of skepticism in linguistics, especially about how language is used in various cultures to create belief systems. A belief system is basically a set of instructions inside your brain based on language. These instructions help you navigate the stressful world around you so you can survive. We are psychologically wired to think our belief systems are accurate and experience deep stress if we find them to be inaccurate.The trouble is, our belief systems are ALWAYS inaccurate. Yes, I used the word "always" for a reason.Without going deeply into the study of philosophy and linguistics, I will give you an overview here:Philosophy - When you study philosophy, you study belief systems about how the world works and explore important questions like "is there a God?" or "What is consciousness." You may not be surprised to find out that philosophy majors have not come up with answers to these questions because there is always a case where we are going to be wrong or have a counter argument. Much of the study of philosophy is the collection of vocabulary words to describe beliefs. They even have a mathematical component called propositional logic, where one takes sentences and reduces them to symbols and creates "proofs" but even prop-logic is under fire from academics for its complete inability to predict anything. In other words, it isn't the answer either.Linguistics - When you study words and language, you realize that all our beliefs are based on language and this language can never "touch reality" in that language is just an arbitrary description of reality, posing as real. I believe Miguel Ruiz must have taken a linguistics course as well--as his first agreement attests to the power of language. The four agreements pulls heavily from Saussure and Derrida. Both Saussure and Derrida (and many, many others) did work on how we form ideas in our heads based on language. The gist is this: we have something called a "symbol" in our brain which is composed of two parts: the word and the visual representation of the object (look up semiotics for further detail). These symbols are in our mind and work together to form meaning, then belief. The unfortunate thing is that they are entirely made up. It isn't real. Our ideas of it aren't real.If you really want a deeper understanding on how linguistics has saturated our belief systems I recommend reading some of their academic essays or get Rivkin and Ryan's literary theory books. They are excellent and will take you further down the rabbit hole. Most of the essays are dense but worth the effort!To simplify: scientists and academics in the millions have tried and tried and tried to find "the true belief" for thousands, maybe tens of thousands of years and we have not yet arrived at any truth. Because of domestication, we think other people have it, but they don't! "Truth" is defined as that which has the most predictive power. So far, mathematics, geometry, and physics has the most predictive power. Our belief systems simply do not.So any beliefs about yourself can be true and they can also be false. We can't know. So why not pick something positive? If no one knows anything, then how can you even know anything?But you don't need to study this yourself. All you have to do is think back to your past self, let's say ten years ago. Did that person have a belief system that you now consider to be faulty? How is that possible? What about your future self? Will that person believe you have a faulty belief system? Probably! How is this possible? How can you be SO WRONG? Is it because you "haven't learned?" I highly doubt it!But we have to be right! We ARE RIGHT! At least we think we might be . . . maybe?The need to be right is so ingrained within us that we create a huge drama when someone contradicts our beliefs. We end relationships over it! We storm out! We write angry twitter updates.HOW THIS BOOK HAS PERSONALLY HELPED ME:- No one person's opinion will ever again have the power to limit what I can do, even if this person is an authority figure- No one group's opinion will ever again have the power to limit what I can do- No one has a clear idea of who or what I am, not even me!- When people talk, they are telling stories. I don't have to argue. I don't have to fight. I simply have to listen. WOW!- I cannot comprehend another person's dream. I can't mind read. I can't assume. I know nothing of their inner workings.- Even scary, aggressive people are just telling stories.- I no longer have to feel ashamed about who I am or what I've done or where I'm going. It's not my job to assign a story to my life, or a judgment.- I no longer have to pretend to be something or hustle to gain love. I just need to love who is willing to love back. It's so simple.- I take all gurus, religions, indictments and gossip with quite a high level of benevolent skepticism, which allows me to be free from the fear that goes along with these stories.- I don't take myself as seriously as I used to.Probably the most valuable of all . . .- I have a deep compassion for all people. We are all just stuck here together, trying our hardest and doing our best. I don't have to hate someone because their best wasn't up to some story I tell myself. I don't' have to insist they believe in my story. I can just smile and listen and do what I can.

The wisdom in this book has completely transformed my life, more than anything thing else I've ever read or meditated on. This is not hyperbole. The Four Agreements showed up in my suggested titles, as I've purchased books on Buddhism and meditation. It was relatively inexpensive so I thought, "why not?"Once I began the chapter on the First Agreement, I found myself resting my eyes on phrases, sentences, and truths that just stood out from the page with child-like simplicity and tremendous depth. As I started to unpack what I was learning, I cried some good tears. This happened over and over, like the wounds in my soul were beginning to heal. They were healing through my active attention and I learned how to speak to myself without being judgmental. I thought I already knew how to do this through meditation and therapy, but this book uncovers something for me that I just can't explain.I don't want to give away too much of this book, because the way everything is explained is so brilliant and builds in layers. The way it is told is important. You can feel the kind and loving intent within every word. This book is very easy to read and understand; you really don't need advanced philosophy to move mountains of the mind.I feel like Don Miguel Ruiz is right next to me, gently and lovingly help me to see the real beauty in me, the real beauty in the universe and how we are all connected. It has the same force of an elder looking you in the eyes and telling you truths that come from years and years of contemplation, experience and wisdom. The best part is that I'm learning how to be me, really me. I'm learning how to love me, not things *about* me, but the real me way down inside that doesn't have to puff up or put up guards. I'm learning to be vulnerable and relate to others with far less fear and self-doubt. What a gift. What a treasure.

I bought this on Kindle for $3.99, and it's probably the best investment I've made in my job search. I have read numerous books, revamped Linkedin, applied online, etc., and didn't have much to show for it. After reading this book, I know why. This book will teach you how to set up profiles on LinkedIn, Indeed.com, and Monster.com that will allow HR and third party recruiters to find YOU, and optimize your profiles to show off what really matters to potential employers. You get a free course on Udemy that covers all of this and more with purchase of the book. The author walks you through how to do all of it.She also encourages you to connect with her on LinkedIn, and she will answer questions via messaging. How awesome is that? I have just begun this new system and will update this review when I find a job. I learned a lot that I did not know about going beyond LinkedIn, and also about industry-specific recruiting agencies that I had never heard of before. I am leaving a lot less stones unturned that I was before when I didn't know this stuff.It's only $3.99, and it's way better than most of the books out there. I've read loads of them and I think this is the one that is getting me where I need to go.

I decided it is time to switch jobs so I got a few "interview" books to get myself ready. The author worked in recruiting industry for 13 years. The book was quite helpful to me as I found a number of useful suggestions.I do not agree with everything in the book. The author states that working with recruiters (rather than your own connections) is the first and the best option a candidate has. Since the author is a recruiter she might have her own bias in this area, but this is something each person can decide on his or her own. A company pays a recruiter about 20% of the candidate salary and they typically pay much less or nothing for an internal referral. In an addition an internal referral is a reference from someone they already know and trust. I consider my own connections as the first and the best option with recruiters being a second option. If someone does not have a lot of connections then the picture changes.Other then this one area where I disagreed I thought the advice was excellent. I liked knowing what motivates and de-motivates recruiters from one of the flock. I liked the author's advice on removing the objective section and replacing it with a summary which is customized for each company highlighting the three skills you have from a specific job description posted by that company. I spent a year applying for jobs and hearing nothing back from employers; not even you're a terrible applicant. I found this book on Amazon and thought I need to do something different, so I ordered it. I went through the chapters and did the exercises - collecting keywords for the jobs I've been looking for. There are some really simple, but effective tricks to finding these keywords, which Dr. Gurney explains both in the book and on her accompanying videos on the book's website. Two weeks after adding about 16 new keywords to my online profiles for Indeed and LinkedIn I was contacted by a recruiter representing a company that had an opening. The opening was one I had looked at before, but figured I wouldn't get through their online application process. The recruited asked if I was interested in the position, and if so, please apply. I did the same day. By the following day they scheduled a phone screen and following the phone screen I was scheduled for a formal interview. It's unfortunate that one has to resort to "tricks & techniques" to outsmart the automated, so called, intelligent application systems companies use to source talent. If you want to get found, get this book.

If you are trying to get a recruiters attention, reading this book and using its tips is an excellent way of doing it. The author explains what recruiters are, the types of recruiters out there, and how to get a recruiters attention through LinkedIn, Indeed, Monster, etc. She also discusses how to make your resume look better to recruiters and to ATS systems.The system that the author uses is much of a passive system than a pro-active system. Personally, the only times I've gotten a job through a recruiter is when I already pro-actively knew someone at the company I was getting hired at and had already interviewed, thus the recruiter was just the man-in-the-middle who was going to pay me. Most of the time I've been pro-active in finding hiring managers through LinkedIn for jobs that have been posted, which this author does not go into.This is a great book if you want to be "lazy" and not do the work of really finding a job, which can be great for a lot of people. I learned a number of things reading this book, so I recommend it.

Overall the book was a disappointment, especially for seasoned professionals. I can see how this book is useful for someone who has never waded into the job search process or is completely new to social media. Beyond that, save your money.First off, the book spends equal amount of time on monster.com and indeed.com and a couple of other dated career sites. Recruiters rarely look on the dated website for talent anymore (If you don’t believe me do a quick google search). This, the sections of the book devoted to those websites is made obsolete.I bought the book mainly to get advice on keyword stacking and search engine optimization since the book was marketed as such. If this is your focus, then this book doesn’t have enough on this. For this, I would recommend another book.The cover of the book is “double your job interviews. Leverage recruiters. Unlock LinkedIn”.I would say the actual content of the book matches this by 20%.Thank you amazon for giving me a refund.
